As most phans that know me know, I love Steve Barton. I feel his Raoul was one of the best interps, his Phantom (the little we've heard of it) is awesome and his Graf is phenomenal. Bringing me to my point. I stumbled across a live recording, on youtube, of Steve's first performance as Erik. Not the one with Rebecca Luker we're all used to. Thought I'd share...

He really is in my top five of favourite Phantoms. Makes me sad I lost all my bootlegs and audio shows... I have nothing to trade anymore. *le sigh*
Nov. 15th, 2008 @ 11:48 pm Honoring Phantom Icon Makers
About this Entry
fajita_mraz:

potoawards is an awards community for all Phantom of the Opera (stage or movie)icons and where you can nominate your icons or icons by others. There are a lot of great Phantom icons out there and this is the place to pay homage to the makers. We are also aware that there are more movie icons made than the stage and that being said, would love to see stage icons be nominated!

Apologies beforehand if not allowed.

About this Entry
mcangel4261:

Dear everyone,

I would like to inform you all that the group has moved now to a different group website. I'm currently trying to get some of the information and photos onto the new website.

You can find the new group @
http://www.michaelcrawford.co.nr

The new group has almost the same features as MSN groups does. I'm very upset to see MSN groups closing in February 2009. They originally moved this groupt to a different group website, but I didn't like how it was set up, so I moved the group over to another website.

I strongly encouraged you to join the new group. I'm not going to delete this group. All of the information from this old group will be on Multiply, MSN's partner website for online groups. Please help us get our original group number back.

Thank you.

Your manager of Michael Crawford Phans Forever,
Lisa

Cause most know who my Phantom is...

Forgive me if you have seen this posted on phanwank or my journal, but I am slowly spreading the word the MADRIGAL: A Novel of Gaston Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera released this week. It will be available on all major online book retailers and with individual book store depending on if they pick up the title from Ingram. If not it can be ordered.

Enjoy! Here is the official trailer:

All best,
Mav

Ever wanted to see an MST3K-style riffing on the Schumacher movie? Well, here's the next best thing: a bunch of internet geeks writing hilarious captions to screengrabs from the movie, and generally busting the chops of Gerry, Emmy, and company. The first two pages of highlights (with more to follow) are posted starting here:

(Oh, and if "TheDiva" sounds particularly vitriolic towards the whole thing, that's because it's me in my capping suit.)

I know it's not a remarkable musical or a literary work of genius, but I still love it.  It's one of the stories that I relate to very keenly, the god and the bad of it.  The music to the stage show I feel in my bones.  It's one of the few shows I can still get lost in.  I think it's the only show that will cause me to close my eyes and just savour the feeling of the music.  I mean, hell, even that bloody awful movie can get to me at times (the instrumentals are lovely).  I don't even find myself falling into Tanz the way I did Phantom... In all honesty it's really just Steve Barton that gets me going with that one.  I've yet to find another Krolock that makes me shiver/cry/smile/etc etc the way Steve does.
Anyways, my point is.  I miss Phantom.  I miss obsessing over it, I miss singing it.  I miss the rush of adrenaline when the flash pots go off and the 'Overture' begins to thunder through the auditorium.
It's so much more than just a show, to me.  *shrug*  Yet, somehow I feel like I've had to leave it behnd to become an adult.  I dunno what the point of this post was. I miss Phantom... guess that's the point.

PS: I just wanted to quote this from a Phantom of the Opera thread on GaiaOnline:

"The Phantom is also a sex offender, just because he wants to seduce Christine. Christine was afraid of him AND his soul. I was VERY concenred. :o"
